Two Holiday Sweethearts {Wisconsin Children Photographer}
Posted on December 6, 2011
I got to meet beautiful Paige and her adorable little brother last month for a mini holiday session. Mini it was… these two were modeling pros. They were in an out in no time and I had priceless smiles to boot. I love this time of the year and of the best parts is seeing all of the little cuties in their holiday best. Miss Paige was quick to show off her beautiful dress and I loved her colorful fingernails too!

Holiday Spirit!
Posted on December 6, 2011
My oldest, Emilee, is 4 years old. It’s been so fun to watch her each Christmas.
Her first Christmas she was in utter amazement of the lights, bright paper, and all the people around to hold her and smile at.
Her second Christmas she was infatuated with the ornaments on the tree – taking them off and chucking them across our hardwood floor to hear them bounce or crash (we quickly invested in unbreakable ornaments and put the cherished ones above the 3 foot mark).
Her third Christmas she had started 3K (preschool) at a small Catholic school (and to my delight she had my 7th-9th grade religion teacher as her preschool teacher – an amazing woman!) She became utterly absorbed in the baby in the manger of our nativity set and learned who Santa Claus was and understood that she was going to get presents almost everywhere we went in December!
But this year she understands the gift of giving. Being a typical 4 year old she still begs for things each time we go to the store, but we’ve started talking about giving to the less fortunate and how some kids don’t get as many toys at Christmas as others. We talk about how to give to those less fortunate and I suggested that we should go through and “recycle” her old toys and give them to kids who would love to play with them. Her solution to that was to give away all of her little sister’s toys! Oh well, we’re getting there.
Her big thing this year is making crafts. She loves to make jewelry, color pictures for others (I think her dance teacher got a different picture every week!) I was saving empty toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls for a craft I had planned for her. Imagine my surprise when I came home from a hockey game last night and went to add an empty roll to my stock only to find them all gone. I immediately went to accuse my husband of throwing away our treasures when he told me to look under our yet-to-be-completely-decorated tree. This is what I found…

He informed me that Emilee had made us each a present. Sure enough there were three “wrapped” gifts under the tree. So, after dinner tonight my youngest, Abby, opened today’s Advent bag and devoured the goodies while Emilee arranged us around the tree and started pulling out the gifts under the tree. I watched her look at the first gift and read the name, “This one is for Abby, see?” Sure enough, she had written Abby’s name on the first gift. She handed it to our little toddler terror or ripped into it with gusto and found a ribbon wrapped toilet paper roll! Less than enthused she handed it to Sissy and wandered off to destroy something. Em quickly moved onto the next gift and read it out loud announcing it was for Daddy. Then she scurried to the tree to get the last one and handed me a gift wrapped in cloth (the bag for their blocks LOL). We opened them together to find the paper towel rolls wrapped in more ribbon. The pride in my little girl’s face was priceless! She even pointed out that she had taped a bow I had made to mine. Then she insisted we take a picture of our goodies…

I think my little girl is most definitely deep into the holiday spirit! How can a mother not love a ribbon wrapped paper towel roll?!?
We finished our family evening by decorating the tree and watching a couple of Christmas shows on tv. It is amazing to watch the holiday season through the innocent eyes of a child! Who would have thought a priceless gift would truly be something so simple, but it was her excitement of gift giving that was the best part of it all!

My prayer this Christmas is for all those longing for a child to have their prayers come true. Christmas used to be one of the hardest times of the year for my husband and I. We would watch all the people with children experience the one thing we longed for… a child of our own to share the joy of the season with. It took seven years, but our prayers were answered and each Christmas is more magical than the one before. My heart breaks for those who struggle to become parents and we are truly blessed to have our two little miracles!

Ever heard of Pinterest?
Posted on December 1, 2011
If you haven’t, you may hate me for this post later. Pinterest.com is a fantastic website. It’s full of craft ideas, home ideas, hair ideas, trip ideas, the list goes on forever! Basically its an online filing system for ideas, tips or recipes you want to hold on to so you can go back to them later.
Have you ever been surfing the net and find something you’d love to try in a month or so for some special occassion or a gift for someone? What do you do next? Bookmark it and forget you put it there? That’s where Pinterest comes in.
But, about the part where you’ll hate me. It’s also like the black hole. You can so easily get sucked in for HOURS!!
So, with my downtime I decided join in with a couple of friends who have challenged each other to do at least two things they found on Pinterest each month (because it’s so easy to turn your boards into an impossibility LOL). This is also a great idea because I can keep the blog rolling, share ideas, and show you the my “snapsot side” since I’m capturing a lot of my pictures well after dark, which isn’t really great lighting for a natural light photographer! So, with this, I’m just a mom with a camera! I hope you all enjoy my little challenge.
To start everything off, I decided to look up Advent Calendars on Pinterest this week and actually combined two ideas. One was to use clothes pins and line and pin up an envelope for each day of Advent. Each pin had a cute little punch out with a number 1-24. Another idea had stockings strung up. I wanted to go easy and somewhat inexpensive, so I hit Target for some ideas and here’s what I came up with. I will be punching out the number tags this weekend.
Then the first gift to open was actually a pretty big one… Elf on the Shelf!! I already had an elf because we’ve had the same tradition passed down from my dad’s childhood to mine, then to my girls’. I wanted the book and an elf of their own. So… Day 1 of Advent was a complete success. And Emilee named our elf Joy.

Joy and Elfie (my childhood elf) are quite smitten with each other’s company as you can see from this last shot!

Happy December Everyone!!

Daniel Park First! {Wisconsin Child Photographer}
Posted on November 23, 2011
Hailey and Logan were the winners of the first mini session held at Daniel Park. They had a blast exploring, picking crab apples, and chasing around our surprise guest, Bandit, the escape rat terrier! These two were a busy and fun duo and Daniel Park definitely earned the name park!

Precious New Addition {Wisconsin Newborn Photographer}
Posted on November 22, 2011
I was so honored to do this particular session, not only was she absolutely adorable and beyond perfect but she is the newest addition to the family! My younger cousin and his wife welcomed their beautiful baby girl exactly one month ago today. Happy One Month Clara!!!
Little Miss Clara was the perfect model. She got right down to business as soon as I was all set up. We did some sleepy shots, wake, eat, happily awake shots, eat, sleep and finish with sleepy shots. Of course you can add in there the 5 or 6 times she peed and the one time she made my record books… the first baby to poop on me – including my own!! And she did a good job. Her mom and I just sat there laughing. Good thing I was headed out of town and had a weekend’s worth of clothes in the car. Even when she was doing her business on all of my props she was doing it with a model’s finesse. LOL She definitely reminded me why newborn sessions are at the top of my favorite sessions list. I’m a sucker for those little lips, noses and toes.

Handsome Duo {Wisconsin Child Photography}
Posted on November 8, 2011
These two boys were so much fun. The colors were perfect. It was just an awesome session! I loved the personalities of both of these little men and they were so polar opposites. But when it came right down to it, they still both loved it when we piled up the leaves and gave the go to start jumping. Who doesn’t love destroying a pile of leaves??

Gorgeous Engagment Session! {Twin Cities Engagement Photography}
Posted on November 1, 2011
What an absolute blast!! I was so excited for my sister when she called me up to tell me that her boyfriend took her to an amazing park and popped the question in front of the waterfalls. But I was even more excited to have the chance to go back to that amazing park with them last month and shoot their engagement pictures in front of those same falls!
I’m so excited for their wedding next summer, but until then I am having a blast editing the images from this session. We covered it all… traditional, fun, sexy, HARLEY! I love laughing through a session and we had the most beautiful fall weather to make it all the perfect session.
Congratulations big sis and soon-to-be big bro. And thank you for asking me to capture these memories. I hope you cherish them as you grow old and gray(er) together. HA! Just kidding!!! Love you both!
